LBI Real EstateFind your place
on the island.
We pride ourselves on finding the right home for every buyer — not just any home. From your first search to closing day, we're with you every step of the way.
There aren't many places I haven't heard of on the island, but when I first drove by Birdy's Cafe & Artisan Market in Harvey Cedars in late spring of last year, I just had a feeling it was one of the North Side's lesser known and better kept secret spots.
Having gone back quite a few times since, I have yet to be disappointed by anything on their menu. Operating as a grab-and-go market and a casual dinner joint, Birdy's uses fresh and local ingredients to craft their rotating menu. Despite the fact that they've been closed since October — or maybe because of it — I've been not so patiently waiting for them to open their doors all off-season. Birdy's Cafe will officially open for the 2026 season on April 3rd, and I know I'm not going to be the only one crossing days off the calendar until I can have their chicken salad again.

Off-Season Events
Floral Workshops with Hey Sunshine

While the island may get a little quiet in the winter, the restaurants and shops have gotten creative in keeping locals entertained in the colder months. Birdy's offered a couple of floral workshops in collaboration with Hey Sunshine Floral Design during the fall and winter. Whether you were looking to create a Thanksgiving centerpiece or a holiday wreath, they opened their doors for a few cozy nights on the island.
New This Summer
Birdy's At Dusk Supper Club

Birdy's is mixing things up this summer with a new addition to their event lineup: the Birdy's At Dusk Supper Club. Designed to be an intimate evening, this series aims to put the spotlight on seasonal dishes. Each evening will feature a new chef who thoughtfully curates a 5-course meal for guests, meant to be enjoyed slowly with great conversation and even better company.

The first Birdy's At Dusk will feature Chef Jimmy Frostick, running from 7–10 pm on Saturday, April 4th. Seats are limited — book your spot here before they're gone.

Summer Bazaars
A Weekend Market Worth the Trip

Not many people who aren't on the North End may know this, but the cafe hosts outdoor summer bazaars on the weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Every weekend, local farmers, artists, bakers, makers, and small businesses showcase their trades. This year Birdy's is expanding the bazaar to Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays — giving you plenty of opportunities to browse the vendor stalls.
If you don't mind a little boho chic with your morning smoothie, I can't recommend this place enough. They were even featured by @bestofnj as one of the Most Instagrammable Cafes on the Jersey Shore in 2025. To top off the interior aesthetic, it's just a short stroll from the bay and a bike ride from the beach — perfect for a low-key brunch or laid-back dinner.
Insider Tip: Grab a container — or three — of their chicken salad and a loaf of fresh bread to have on hand for your trip. It's one of the best beach sandwiches this island has.
The Charm
BYOB, Dog-Friendly, and Genuinely Local

Tucked into Harvey Cedars, Birdy's is one of the best brunch spots on the north end. It's BYOB, dog-friendly, and doesn't feel inauthentic. It's just a calm space with good food and a local feel. The menu changes often and leans heavily on seasonal ingredients from nearby farms, bakeries, and fish markets. It isn't your run-of-the-mill diner and does lean more artisanal, but everything is clearly made with care and intention.
You'll see things like house-made focaccia, local eggs, fresh seafood, and herbs that probably came from their own garden. It's the kind of place that actually strives to support local — not just puts it on a sign out front.
What to Order
Must-Order: Prosciutto Toast
House-made tomato butter and burrata on grilled Italian bread. Start here.
Honorable Mentions
The Dirty Bird — Fresh pressed juice with cucumber, lime, celery, apple, and ginger.
Lobster Roll — Asian-style with crispy scallions, ginger, and soy sauce aioli.
Green Eggs and Ham — Scrambled eggs with fresh pesto and spinach, country ham, and home fries.
The eyes eat first at Birdy's, where every plate is a little love letter to LBI's local flavor. From just-baked sourdough to garden-fresh herbs and Jersey-sweet tomatoes, you can taste the island in every bite. It feels like a home-cooked meal in your backyard garden — and whether you're brunching under the pines or grabbing a picnic to-go, Birdy's serves up more than just a meal.
