There's been much debate on Long Beach Island on whether or not it's possible to bring the New York slice to the Jersey Shore. Flour Child closes the doors on this debate, arguably serving some of the best pizza to hungry vacationers and locals.
Located in Brighton Beach, just next to Beach Haven Crest, Flour Child is a new pizza restaurant that opened its doors in the summer of 2025 to an area of the island where the local business scene had thinned out. But don't let us be the judges — go try it for yourself and see why Flour Child has revitalized an under-served commercial pocket on LBI, breathing new life into the local community.
Flour Child is open every day in the summer from 11am to 11pm. Check their website or social media for off-season hours.

Beach Haven Crest and Brighton Beach used to be bustling neighborhoods on Long Beach Island. They were home to such throwbacks as Kubel's Too, Joey's Pizza, Yeah Baby, Ott's Family Restaurant, Sweet Scoops, Dunes Deli, Brighton Beach Surf Shop, a used bookstore, a video rental, and more. All these businesses brought life and community to the area, but over the years, each one closed their doors to be replaced by houses. And although it's nice having new neighbors in town, it doesn't replace the power of community that comes with a local business.
That is, until Rob came around and brought us Flour Child in the summer of 2025.
On the Corner of 82nd Street
Located on Long Beach Boulevard, on the corner of 82nd Street, Flour Child is serving fresh pizza with heart, soul, and LBI spirit. Their motto is: peace, love, and pizza. And Flour Child is delivering all three with passion and gratitude for the LBI community.

Let me tell you, stepping into this new pizza place to pick up my family's order of buffalo chicken, sausage, and gluten-free was a breath of fresh air. At first we were all skeptical. After seeing so many local businesses come and go (mostly go) over the years, especially pizza places, we weren't sure what to expect. Was this place even good? How long would it even last? They have buffalo chicken pizza, and they're serving gelato? All within walking distance? It felt too good to be true.
As we waited for our order, we listened to other locals raving about this new pizza spot — most of them saying how they were so thankful to finally have a place they could walk to in the area that has great food and delicious desserts. And I couldn't agree more. I felt like I was a kid again, reminded of the magic Long Beach Island has to offer. The thing I felt most after my first visit to Flour Child was the presence of community. And this was all thanks to the owner Rob and his Flour Child family.
Meet Rob
Rob is just like us: an LBI lover. He grew up coming to LBI with his family for twelve years, renting and eventually owning a home. Ever since his first trip to LBI in the '90s, Rob had always dreamed of one day opening a place of his own on the island. That dream began taking shape in 2007 when he opened his first pizza restaurant in New York. That first restaurant experience grew his passion for quality and connection, and eventually led to opening Flour Child in 2025.

Liberta was for sale, and he said they were somehow in the right place at the right time. He also said it's truly the most amazing thing that's happened to his family, as they all love LBI. They're just a family who loves coming to LBI and already owned a pizza place — so why not give it a shot?
To him, it's more than just a restaurant — it's a love letter to his wife Kimberlie, his forever "flower child," whose free spirit and warmth inspired the name and the energy behind everything they do.
After a friendly chat with Rob that first night we ordered pizza, my family returned home hungry and excited. We dug in. And wow, were we blown away. The buffalo chicken pizza was baked to perfection. My mom was more than happy with her gluten-free pie. And my dad had a huge smile on his face as he ate his sausage pizza. And of course, we had to have a regular cheese pie, which did not disappoint. Instantly we were sold, and we returned again and again to support Rob and his Flour Child family.

But it doesn't stop at pizza. Check out Flour Child's menu for an assortment of goodies like salads, buffalo wings, garlic knots, and oven ribs.

Don't Skip the Gelato
We even went on an evening stroll to try out the gelato — something we haven't done in years, because there hasn't been any ice cream place close by since Sweet Scoops closed down. For gelato, there are a variety of flavors to choose from, like pistachio, espresso, lemon pie, and Ferrero Rocher. I recommend the hazelnut.

Sorbet & Italian Ice, Too
If gelato isn't your thing, Flour Child also offers sorbet and Italian ice. Still undecided? Head over and try some flavors for yourself.

He'll even serve ya in a kayak. This photo was taken by Rob when my brother and I kayaked down the boulevard during Hurricane Erin in August 2025 — a truly unforgettable experience. He even turned us into a pizza meme.

Thank you, Rob and the Flour Child family, for bringing the community together and dishing out delicious pizza and desserts. We're excited for many more great seasons to come with Flour Child.
