Before we dive into the full swing of fall events, now is a great time to check out a few local restaurants in the coming weeks before they close for the season. Two standouts worth grabbing a meal at are Dock and Claw and Triton Oyster Bar, both favorites that capture the best of island dining.
We’re now heading into festival, marathon, and race season on LBI. This weekend (September 28–29) brings the Merchant Mart at the Boatyard, a great chance to shop local with merchants, artists, and food vendors.
Next up, October 4–5 is the Chowder Cook-Off — if you like energy, crowds, and lively tasting competition, this is your spot. Then, October 10–11 is LBI Kite Fest along Ship Bottom’s 18th–27th Street beaches — calm, beachside fun, perfect for families. My family and I have always loved KiteFest — it’s truly one of our favorite island events.
On the running side, the St. Francis 18-Mile Run is scheduled for **October 12, 2025** (starting at Roosevelt & Pershing Avenue in Holgate). Other races include the Ecto Ghouler 5K on October 4 at 10:00 AM in Beach Haven via Ship Bottom Brewery, plus community favorites like the Dog Day Road Race and other fun runs. Running clubs also remain active: Greenhead Run Club meets Wednesday & Saturday, and LBI Run Club meets Saturdays (3 miles, casual pace). From a real estate standpoint, activity picked back up this past week with 17 new properties hitting the market — bringing our current inventory to 128 active homes. We still expect a significant number of new listings over the next couple of weeks as the fall market continues on.
