A Big Week on LBI Is Officially Underway
Tomorrow, October 1st, marks the first day that vehicles are allowed on the beach across the island, officially kicking off the fall surf fishing and beach driving season. On top of that, two of the islandโs biggest events are happening this weekend: the Merchant Mart and the legendary Chowderfest. If youโre coming to either event, make sure to stop by and say hi at the RE/MAX tent โ weโd love to meet you!
And while youโre down in Beach Haven, itโs a great chance to stop by Barryโs Do Me A Flavor one last time before the season wraps up! <
On the running side, the St. Francis 18-Mile Run is scheduled for October 12, 2025 (starting at Roosevelt & Pershing Avenue in Holgate). Other races include the Ecto Ghouler 5K on October 4 at 10:00 AM in Beach Haven via Ship Bottom Brewery, plus community favorites like the Dog Day Road Race and other fun runs. Running clubs also remain active: Greenhead Run Club meets Wednesday & Saturday, and LBI Run Club meets Saturdays (3 miles, casual pace). From a real estate standpoint, we actually went backwards in inventory this week, losing two properties and dropping to 126 active homes. This fall is falling short of expectations and past years, and the low inventory environment is creating a highly competitive market. We should see some new listings hit between now and Columbus Day, after which activity typically tapers off heading toward Thanksgiving.
