🍔 Family Restaurant of the Week
The Boatyard
If you’re searching for a laid-back waterfront spot that captures everything you love about summer on Long Beach Island, look no further than The Boatyard. It isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a full-on experience. From dockside dining to casual bites with friends, this is where good food, salty breezes, and coastal vibes come together.
Why We Love It
The Boatyard offers the kind of atmosphere you dream about in the off-season. Picture picnic tables, string lights, live music, and games for the kids—all overlooking the water. Whether you’re coming by car or docking your boat, this is the perfect stop for lunch, happy hour, or a breezy dinner after a beach day.
The vibe is chill, the service is friendly, and the food hits the spot. It’s a great place for groups, families, or date night with a side of sunset.
In the beer garden, The Boatyard keeps it simple and refreshing—only serving draft beer and ready-to-drink (RTD) canned cocktails. But don’t fear they do have a few mixed drinks on tap!
What to Try
Their menu is packed with fresh, beachy favorites and crowd-pleasers like:
• 🍤 Coconut Shrimp – Crispy, golden, and served with a tangy dipping sauce.
• 🍔 Sliders – 3 mini burgers that are juicy and flavorful.
• 🦞 The Yard Lobster Roll – Fresh Maine lobster – you can’t go wrong!
Family-Friendly Fun
The Boatyard’s outdoor setting is perfect for kids to run around while adults unwind. Cornhole, giant Jenga, and picnic-style seating make it feel more like a backyard hang than a traditional restaurant. Plus the Boatyard proudly welcomes your four‑legged pals. Its spacious, outdoor beer garden is fully dog‑friendly, with plenty of room for your pup to roam and play while you savor the bay views
And bonus: they sometimes have live music and themed nights, so keep an eye on their events calendar!
🍸 The New Prop Bar
Open since June 18, 2025, the Prop Bar is LBI’s sleek new addition to the Boatyard experience. Located upstairs, this indoor‑outdoor lounge features:
• Indoor bar with garage‑style doors that open to the bay breeze
• Rooftop deck offering sweeping 360° sunset views over Barnegat Bay
Whether you’re sipping their crafted nautical cocktails or sticking to your favorite drink, this chic venue provides a fresh take on waterfront drinking. Just note—the new indoor Prop Bar does not allow dogs (unless it’s a registered service animal) . So plan accordingly: curl up in the garden with your furry friend, then move to the Prop Bar solo for cocktails.
The Boatyard is a must-do on LBI—whether you’re just visiting or a full-time summer local. It’s relaxed, flavorful, and full of island charm. So grab your crew, pull up a bench, and toast to long days and salty air.
🌊 See you at The Boatyard!
🗺️ Adventure of the Week
🐚 Follow the Shells: A Beachy Treasure Hunt & Clam Shell Adventure Along LBI
If you’ve wandered the shores of Long Beach Island lately, you may have spotted more than just sand and surf. Look a little closer and you’ll notice painted shells peeking out from the dunes, resting on boardwalks, or nestled near beach entrances. These aren’t random decorations—they’re part of a growing LBI tradition that’s turning beach walks into whimsical scavenger hunts.
🎨 The Painted Shell Trail
Locals and visitors alike have embraced the art of painting and hiding shells across the island. With designs ranging from smiley faces and sunsets to kind messages and fun patterns, each shell is a mini work of art waiting to be discovered.
Here’s how to join the fun:
• Hunt for hidden treasures as you walk the beach, stroll through town, or explore playgrounds and public spaces.
• Create your own painted shells with simple art supplies and sealant—just remember to keep it friendly and weatherproof.
• Hide them around the island (avoiding dunes and private property).
• Share your finds on social media with hashtags like #JerseyShoreShells
It’s a great way to add a little magic to your vacation—and it’s especially fun for kids who love a good beach adventure.

About Me
Hello! I’m a proud wife and mother of four living on the beautiful seaside stretch of Long Beach Island, NJ—where the days are full of sand (a lot of it!), saltwater, and just enough chaos to keep life interesting.
My life is a blend of beach days, dance recitals, grocery runs and baseball games. I’m passionate about making memories with my crew, mornings by the ocean, Sunday dinners (that are normally a little loud), enjoying coastal sunsets, planning adventures, solo target runs, strong coffee and I find joy in the beautiful, messy moments of motherhood.
