Whittingham Coffee House is a must-add to your coffee fix this summer. Located in North Beach Haven, Whittingham has some of the best quality coffee you can find on the island with a great staff, welcoming community, and an inviting, cozy sitting area that makes it hard to leave. Whittingham officially opened its doors in summer of 2024.
Whittingham Coffee House is open every day in the summer from 7AM – 2PM. Check their website or social media for off season hours.
Stepping into Whittingham Coffee House instantly brings me back to living in Spain. It was always my favorite part of the day to sit down and unwind with a coffee, surrounded by conversation and a bustling community. And Whittingham provides just that: a place to disconnect, take a second to breathe, and forget the hustle and bustle that comes with summer time.
The large dining room, with its thoughtful decorations, really brings this coffee shop to life. It’s a great environment to sit and read, socialize, or work. And don’t be surprised if you’re greeted by music in a different language, always setting the mood. So far I’ve heard Spanish, French, Italian, and Japanese.
There’s even a nice little nook in the far back that’s great for reading, working, or just having some space to yourself.
There are a variety of events you can join, too. I personally have been to the Stafford/LBI Silent Book Club, and I couldn’t recommend it enough. The Whittingham owners, Alex and Megan, did such a great job making us feel invited and at home, while giving us space to socialize, read, and talk about our favorite books.
They are constantly hosting different events, so check out their social media for new announcements and schedules. I heard word they’ll be starting some live music events and movie nights this summer!
Now let’s get down to the beverages. Whittingham has some of the best coffee and tea on the island, and it’s worth the price. They’ve literally spoiled me. I’m more of a tea drinker, and after trying all of their Chai & Matcha Lattes (my favorites being the Pink and Blue Matcha Lattes) I can now taste the difference between good and bad quality drinks. It’s been hard going back to just being okay with average now.
For their coffee, they use the brand Devoción, the only company in the US that roasts farm-fresh coffee only 10 days after leaving origin. They hand pick their beans from their farm in Colombia and import them directly to Brooklyn to be freshly roasted and served as quick as possible.
Another one of my favorites is the Hot Cider and the Pumpkin Chai Latte.
None of this would be possible without the wonderful Whittingham owners: Megan and Alex. These two are on the front lines every single day, brewing, working hard, and always greeting every customer with a welcoming smile and great conversation. These two have done such a terrific job bringing the Long Beach Island community together, reminding us what it’s all about to be part of this island. Thank you, Alex and Megan, for all your hard work! I’m excited to see what’s next for Whittingham Coffee House!
